| Cardio Cardiovascular exercise is any exercise that gets your heart beating, your blood pumping, and your breathing rate up. Examples include walking, jogging, cycling, and swimming. You should try to incorporate 2 to 3 hours of cardio exercise into your schedule every week. Cardio is the most effective form of exercise for burning calories. For maximum benefits, you need to also incorporate strength training into your weekly exercise regimen. See the strength training section for details. Strength training will build lean muscle tissue so that you are burning more calories all the time - even at rest. Cardio will help to burn them off faster. Personally, I recommend you begin by walking at a moderate pace for a few weeks. Then, when you're comfortable with walking, move up to Power Walking. After a few weeks or a month of Power Walking, you may want to consider jogging - if your legs are in good shape. Read on for more details. |
